Solo Piccolo
In this piece, I try to explore a feeling I have often found difficult to describe: the strange experience of missing a moment before it has even passed, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as anticipatory nostalgia.
There are times in life when joy is accompanied by conflicting emotions. We might be fully immersed in a happy moment, whether spending time with someone we love or experiencing something we have long looked forward to, when something suddenly begins to blur our sense of happiness and presence. A quiet awareness creeps in, reminding us that this moment, too, will soon pass. It is an unusual feeling, almost as if we are already missing something that has not yet ended, as if we are looking back on a memory while still living it. The feeling can take us away from the present, but perhaps also makes us appreciate it more deeply.
